On Aviation and Photography:
"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

My mom grew up in South Dakota, so I can remember a car trip from California to South Dakota a few years back LOL before, IPODs and DVD players were the craze and you actually played silly car games and sung songs, and ask are we there yet??!! We had went there to see my grandfather it was my first time to see him, and of course along the way we stopped here, such great memories, years later my parents took my kids on a trip so they all got to see it as well. I also remember seeing buffalo, my first snow falling and iceskating on a frozen lake what a trip that was. Love your photo~

Excellent photo - perfect exposure, beautifully framed, just superb! It's GREAT finding a little different viewpoint, and getting away from the crowd to get a POV a little different from the 2 million other photos that will all be taken from exactly the same place. Looking forward to your collage - that should be fantastic!

Yep, many ppl visit the place, but not everybody is into picture, and many of those who picture the place, are doing it with themselves in pictures, as a memory in time.... Excellent shot, Bill... I like it a lot!

I feel like a time traveler! I just saw your Pause image and then came to this one, so from my perspective, you drove a great distance in the time it took for me to view and comment on one image, get up and get a nice cold glass of ice water from the kitchen, meander around a bit before settling back down to view and comment on this image. I love it when perception plays around like that. This is a great shot and I love the crispness and sharpness of it. It's also great that you got this POV all to yourself. I have yet to visit a place like this, but I'm looking forward to it.
