Description

This image is dedicated to Fatima. (morganahope). She is a fantastic artist, and one of the kindest people I know. Her gallery is a pleasure to visit, and features beautiful works of art with gentle themes. Fatima shared many lovely memories with me about growing up in her wonderful country of Brazil. This is one of the most beautiful stories I have ever heard, and touched me the most. To be honest I was not sure if I would ever create another image. Because of Fatima's friendship, her stories, and kindness to me I felt it in my heart to do this for her. I hope everyone enjoys sharing her memories also. Hugs Dave Road To Paradise (For morganahope): When Fatima was a child she was always excited when her family would go visit her Grandparents. Her Grandmother was a sweet lady, and loved children. Her Dad Arlindo would get their horse "White", and hitch him to the wagon they used in the fields. Fatima and her dog "Lion" were the first in the wagon, so excited about their trip. Soon her sister Nasira and her Mom Nazira arrived and off they would go. It was a long trip, and the road seemed to go on forever, but that was okay because each trip was a magical one. They would set on bales of hay while Nazira told them wonderful stories the whole trip. She told them the history of their family and of their beautiful Brazil. She told them of the two cowboys that had died long ago, and were now buried along the road. After a long trip and many stories you could hear the whistle of a train to let you know the magical journey was almost over. Fatima remembers this as the road to paradise. Where there was no arguing or fighting, only a family sharing a trip and their love for each other. Credits: V.H. Dave your work is always very well done, but the story you post with it is always the main draw. In this one you once again capture a tale from one of your friends past and relate it in vivid detail, and as always, they touch a chord with the rest of us. Excellent work, Dave, and we'll be looking forward to more of your work soon.

This is exactly - EXACTLY - how it was when I was a kid and we went to see my grandmother - well, except our dog had to ride in a cage in the baggage compartment. Come to think of it, there weren't any dead cowboys, but Dad gave me so many sips of his martini I threw up - which, if you think on it hard, is remarkably similar. You are the greatest, Dave!

This reminds me of the stories my grandmother used to tell me when I was a little girl. Her family traveled from Oklahoma to Idaho, from Idaho to Oklahoma, and from Oklahoma to Oregon in wagon trains at the turn of the 20th century. For her to remember those details when she was up in years was amazing to me, but it was as though it only happened the day before. Good story to share, and the image is wonderful.

You can tell her mother is a great story teller... just look at how she leans into the action. The kids are totally enthralled... there will be no "are we there yet?" from this group!
