Description

A few days ago I had a bottle of milk left. Had nothing really to use it for, so I desided, that for dinner we would have Oatmeal Porridge with cinnamon. We both like it, but I made too much, so there was alot of Porridge left and I dont like to throw out food, if I can use it. SO :) I tried to make cookies and I knew it would be unsuccesful, as you cannot make a cookie with something that has water in it or... in this case MILK. Anyway I just had to try, just to see what came out of it. The result was warm rubber cookies. Then came my nephew and wife and they wanted to taste. I didnt expect them coming right in the time, when I made a disaster of cookies. But the mirackle happened, they liked them, even though they were like baked Chewing Gum. And they ate many of them. I must say to their defence, it was right before their supper time and we all know, that hunger is the best cook. Well yesterday, when all 9 family members sad around the table for coffee and buns, I served another plate of these cookies. When we left the table, the cookies were almost gone :-))) There is more betweeen heaven and earth, than we people can understand LOL ! Have a wonderful sunday. Grey and boring weather and they promised rain. Thank you so much for viewing and kind comments to my previous post and special warm thanks go to those, who added it to their favorites. :)

I like the golden color. They also remind me a little bit of dumplings, the kind that you bake and eat almost like bread. They are a little bit like rubber too...or maybe a little bit like a slightly rubber sponge. That's the way I like them! The cookies as you describe them actually sound quite good. I also like fresh cinnamon! Your descriptions are funny and colorful and I like the way you describe your little culinary adventure.

I have to laugh... the same has happened to me. LOL My son, the human garbage can, usually ate every disaster I ever cooked and asked for seconds so I always kept my mouth shut about how distasteful things might seem. As long as the crowd likes what you set out, it makes no difference how bad it might be. Have you tried making fried oatmeal cakes? They are really lovely. Add egg and a bit of binding ingredients and form into patties then fry it in a skillet. Sort of like potato pancakes when you are done and you can serve them with jelly or syrup or anything that sounds good.

In the military, we were always talking about the "end state" of one project or another. The end state you achieved here was a total success. The porridge was all gone and you got compliments on your wonderful cookies.

I love to cook in creative ways as well you never know until you try, that is how recipes are made and created.. this reminds me of a story my mom told me years ago about her dad, he suddenly had to care for the five children and he had no clue how to cook or bake, so he would take bags of premade animal cookies place them on a cookie tray and turn oven on and tell them cookies are ready pretending he had baked them himself, to me that was the greatest story I ever heard that he wanted so bad to bake for them in his own way... Happy baking... have lots of milk nearby for next time lol

Very funny story! I can't say that baked chewing gum sounds all that appealing, but maybe you're being hard on them. Your opinion seems to be in the minority. Regardless of the truth of their quality, you have much to be thankful for, no waste, and either a better than you thought cookie or proof that your family and friends love you very much. Not a bad outcome!

They look great and they obviously tasted good too. Even the best cook has a day off. I reckon these would have been good to eat.
