Description
Located 200 miles west of the International Date line, this American territory is restricied for military use only, operated by the US Air Force. The runway is only 9800 ft long. The early days of Pan American Airways flying the China Clipper in the 1930"s used this as a refueling and rest stop building a 48 room hotel. The pier is still standing out to the water where the Clipper would dock, discovered this in 1990 on a well deserved military vacation. The remains of the concrete pier was etched with the year 1935
