Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Cats are smarter than humans. They stay away from hot tin roofs. This is a wonderfully abstracted image. I'll bet if you installed this in a gallery you could get at least $10,000 for it.

Awesome photo. I love the way photographers seem to love rust, but everyone else avoids it like the plague!!!!!!!!!

Vivid portrail of this scene of devastation. I just love the sharp focus and texture of this shot, well done.

Maybe to hot for the cat. :>) You know that I get carried away with other genres but enjoy patterns. The interesting thing in this fantastic capture is that only the outside of the roof is rusted. Love the twisted pattern. Dana

This is quite brilliant, and I agree: what is it with rust and photographer it's like catnip for us! Well, it is for me. I see something rusty and ugly and I get all googly and happy! As for this image, it looks like the reason there's no cat on that tin roof is because the cat is done sharpening his or her claws and has since moved on to find a set of living room curtains to climb. My cat, Natasha, was such a climber. It was amusing to watch. She never ripped the curtains, but she'd get as far up as the rod, then perch with two feet on the curtain rod and two feet on the little lip of the window sconce or whatever you'd call that bit of molding. Anyway, enough about odd cats. What an image! It's quite striking! And yeah, I bet you could sell it at an exclusive gallery full of art-lovers in black turtlenecks. It's that good!

LOl @ Chip! Great shot of this once useful roof Marilyn! The elements did play havoc with it!

Could the Ocean mess it up a little more... sure!! Geez, too bad that big panel can't be salvaged and reused. Would make a great work of art erected on big old timbers - taunting the Ocean to "do it again!"

Hard to imagine the ocean folding that metal ... what a shot!

What a wonderful legacy that barn left behind--gorgeous lines and rust!

No cat? Tennessee Williams would be SO upset! This is great! Yes, we photogs love rust. There's something about that colorful decay that pulls us in, it's weirdly poetic. I love this shot. The convoluted twists and turns of the metal, the rust of course, and the fact that it's partially burried in the sand. The ribs that are sticking out of the sand remind me of devil claws scratching their way out of hell. Cool image.
