Description
Traveling on to the North Shore I came upon Kilauea Lighthouse. Kilauea Lighthouse is the northernmost point of the main Hawaiian Islands. Built in 1913, it had the largest lens of its kind and guided ships heading to and from Asia. In the 1970's its light was turned off and this landmark was replaced by a low-maintenance light beacon. Ah, progress.

What beautiful solitude! My eye travels along the peninsula, up the lighthouse and into the sky! Stunning clouds with perfect light and shading! I love it when there are dark little clouds in front of brighter ones like here. Wonderful colors and composition! To bad about the lighthouse.

Mark, this is such a superb photo! The composition is perfect, but also the overall effect is like a romantic painting..I love it.

Fantastic POV Mark! Able to catch the lighthouse and down the cliffs, at your feet, for the great wave action in the cove. Dana
