Description
The South Coast may be the low rent part of Kauai but it still has it's charms.

Charming, indeed! When I see an image such as this I often think about the perceptions of local inhabitants in centuries past who knew only this perspective on the world. Globetrotters that we are today, we can't get back into such a mental space. Even if we do not travel far physicaly we travel the world and commune with others from nearly every corner of it via this medium. Our perspectives now include the horizons of Mars and the birthplaces of distant galaxies thanks to wonders you helped set out on their far journeyes. Sometimes, though, I wonder what it must have been like to look out from the South point of this island centuries ago. The locals must have truly felt themselves to be living upon a world of water, vast beyond imagining. Perhaps the very opposite of how the Plains Indians of the N. American Mid-West must have conceived the world. I like photographs that make me think. :-) Terry
