Description

I did this for the tarot contest over at DAZ; I decided to use the contest to illustrate some characters from the Silmirillion. Divination being against my religious beliefs, I didn't know much about tarot, but when I was reading about the High Priestess I instantly thought of Varda, my favorite of the Valar. I'm currently working on The Empress with Yavanna Kementári. :) Thanks to NASA for the image of the Pleiades I used as the ambient map on Varda's dress. :) For those less familiar with the Silmirillion but familiar with Lord of the Rings, Varda is called by her Sindarin name Elbereth in that book (though she is referenced in Quenya by the epithet Tintallë in Galadriel's farewell).

Wow! Stunning. Though before I read the write-up, my first thought was Zandramas from David Edding's works. Her skin call 'all the starry universe contained within', but I do remember Varda though I haven't read the Silmirillion since I was a teen. I love all the blues in this render.

Great job on the character, dress, pose, light, setting and the border. Guess that's about everything. Good luck in the contest. I'd vote for this. I read all of the LotR books but couldn't make it through Silmarillion. I started reading Vonnegut at that time...
