Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

I second what Tara said, and would add that this really shows the power of the falls. Great job, Bill.

see, this is what I mean by your "tonal" sensibilities. This is a beautiful shot of a majestic falls, but you have a tonal delicacy throughout that is, to me, quite gentle . I can see what tara's saying about the challenges of getting these different lights & textures in one shot--ie, without one being too strong or the other too weak. I can appreciate that a lot more, now that I photograph. But somehow all these different elements are in harmony with each other, and you have a softness throughout---not haze or mist or that kind of thing, I mean softness of feel while the details are still clear. And the "tonal" part is almost impossible for me to describe: It just feels as if everything here got together and sang the same music for you. (Ie, you 'caught' the same music.) Also, the texture of the water is almost silken, and the textures to the rocks---though they're rocks---are very painterly and gentle. (I saw some of that rock quality in your Rushmore shot.) Don't know if that's a big rock, top center: If it's a boat, that guy would be in trouble! But it's a fine divider for the whole image. Finally, the dissolution of the image into mist as the water cascades down is delicately handled as well. More always thoughtful & heartful work from you, a delicate shot of a magisterial scene; and you made both qualities work in easeful harmony.
