Description

FE & PS Hi all.. Hard to believe it's now been so incredibly long since my last upload. But, sometimes, life calls, and we have no choice but to tend to other things. It's good just to be here again. Here's a simple little fractal *sketch*. It reminded me slightly, of a hemp plant's cross section bast fibres, hence the name. Hope everyone's doing well! Hugs, Nancy

Welcome back! I've missed you so, and this is a prime example of why I've missed your work. Love the title, it suits this perfectly. The colors are subtle to go with a much more complex texture that you'd think at first glance. This is superb!

I definitely owe you a letter, but for now I'll try to do justice with a comment. It's always great to see you come back. I understand absences, I've had several myself. I hope yours were filled with light as well as any struggles you might have had. And, to say thank you for your comment on my mina piece would be inadequate; it was very loving & moving, and it's wonderful to see the people here who were so touched by her. I didn't know her nearly as well as some of you, but I sure saw how she touched people; and your comment showed that yet one more truly sensitive soul was moved & changed by the wonderful Mina. Thank you, Nancy. I truly appreciated what you wrote. As for the image, it almost has the feel of a fine drawing, or perhaps fabric piece. Amazing it's a fractal. I know fractals can do just about anything in hands of those who understand them (if you pay me enough I'll show you my fractals, most of which are good for inducing unconsciousness or at least severe dizziness). Your lines are very delicate, and the weaves, though they move in & out the way fractal lines do (ie, coagulating and then reaching into space) have a spacing and ease that speaks as much of drawing as of fractals, not an easy feat. And the openness of much of it is very peaceful. (Didn't expect "peaceful" in a representation of bast fibers, did ya! I don't know, when I think 'bast', I sure think peaceful!) But you've intensified the edges with increasing compact lines leading up to them---fairly basic design stuff, but it takes a fine eye to do it well, and you do it well as always---and the open space and fibrous background makes it feel like a restful shawl. Your composition is also finely done: an intensified lower right-corner (with heavy congestion & dark lines) opening into an open area of bright easefulness. A simple progression, but all part of your design. Another thoughtful piece by you, but your fractals always are---from your very dramatic ones to your very subtle ones. And always emanating warmth. I hope you're well & in good spirits; I know it was hard to come back here to the news of Mina's passing; but your presence reminds us all of what light can do. And I hope that light is permeating your life these days. I'll be in touch soon, but wonderful to see you, and ala our friend, HUGSSSS, BB* and all the light in the world!
