Looking at her now - in a real (far-away) life situation - and discovering and re-learning all about her past memories, that would have been something wonderful, for me anyway - (as my mother died at the tender age of 26) This is what your photo tells me, enchanting image, BB

coming back here is always a journey through mastery, I'm always struck at how consummate you are. I find photographic portraiture to be very difficult; and I found painting & drawing portraiture to be difficult too. (Right above me, Ana does the most amazing portraits, it's an art I wish I had even a little of!) This is a simple capture, but very intuitive and thoughtful. The woman is doused in much shadow, but you have enough light to give her luminousness. The gesture is indeed touching (very well captured), and your light allows her wrinkles to show just enough; yet the light in her hair & face still shows her insides, the ageless part. The background is fascinating, because it's unfocussed but still interesting. I love how you have her frontal, yet the chair seems in-profile; and there's a fishbowl (I think) in the background, and it is a harmony to her head. Like the background is giving a 'head' of its own. It's a simple shot, but with real subtlety, and the hues and shade make it very introspective, even a little sad. And it shows that you are as subtle and thoughtful with human portraiture as you are with so many other subjects. Very fine work, and it's always a treasure to come back to your gallery. I've barely been here except for Koosie's dedi and a hello; to come to your gallery is a reminder of a master's eye & heart. I hope all is well your way, this late spring day, Nikolay!

This is a fabulous portrait. Her's is the face of age, of a life lived. I see a certain spirit that still lives. No drab house dress for her but a lively print shirt. We tend to forget that the elderly were young once. A successful portrait makes you wonder about the person and want to know their story. Was she pretty? Did she have boy friends, perhaps one special one? What has she endured? These thoughts come to mind in this image. This is a very successful portrait.

What a superb and regal portrait! I love the set of her features, her expression, the casual elegance of her gesture! There is so much to see here, and I love the wonderful details and hints of details. I wonder what's going through her mind, what songs she's heard (and perhaps even sang) and everything else that goes along with her life. This is amazing! Profoundly touching. I like her wrinkles, they're like a map of every experience. Marvelous and compelling work! I love the gracefulness of it. Like Mark, I also see an agelessness and it's quite uplifting in all of those marvelously subtle ways that are born in human life, human experience, and even an awareness that grass was greener once, but now it's still green as well: a different green. This is quite graceful work, Nikolai...profound work too.

God Bless her, nice pic, but God bless this lady she looks so sad to me... A picture tells all stories if you really look, some never really notice, just like a song tells a story too, feelings can be express by pictures and songs if you can write down your words and people actually listen to you...
