Nikolai, you are amazing! You're a poet, a haiku no sensei, Master of the Haiku. What you bring to us here is nothing less than the essence of a mood, the physical manifestation of feelings. I recognize that whenever I see something you've captured and chosen to post. This is no exception. It's exquisite in its elegance. It says or does nothing more than what it's supposed to, and it does so with grace, with dignity, and in the quietest tones I can imagine. In short, I may be one who sets a few kettles to boiling, but you're the one who brews tea, and I will forever stand in awe of that. This is marvelous work!

well, after all these comments, I almost don't know what to add! And I agree with bill about chip. A great tribute. You are one of the few artists I know who see, in a single moment, a glimpse into the inner heart of something, and a sense of the hidden & mysterious inside it. The table here---and we don't know where it is or what's behind the frame---emerges at us almost in the manner of the 16th & 17th C. painting masters; your highlights are painterly, I don't know another way to say it; and the shadow & heavy brown around it shroud it in mystery; and you let the table emerge in genuine subtlety. Don't know if the words in the image were put there by you, or were part of the wall they sit on; but it's a sweet irony that you were at a hotel in "Sint Niklaas" (perhaps that's part of the hotel's name?): That's your namesake, only in a Dutch tongue. A subtle beautiful vision, and I'll go along with chip about you being the one who brews the tea. Wonderful mysterious image, always done with your inimitable sense of minimal imagery yet very rich. I'm always in masterful territory when I come here.

Wow, that is so very well captured. A totally ordinary scene that becomes that interesting images that seems to be telling a story. Excellent.
