Description

Hi All! Sorry I forgot to mention to you that I was going away on vacation last week. We went camping in the lakes region of NH, USA. I meant to mention it in my last upload. But, I did reasonably well keeping up with all your uploads as we were able to find places to get online from time to time. There is a very nice internet cafe' on route 16 in Ossipee that we visited during the not-so-nice weather we had off and on. Anyway, here is a picture of a north American moose that we were fortunate to come across on our outing to Errol NH on Thursday. She was off the side of route 16 in Dummer (yeah, I know - dumb name for a town isn't it) at 3:45 PM. We were surprised to come across one so early in the day. I believe this to be a female because it appeared to me to be only around 800 pounds maximum, and I can't see anything on the head to give the appearance that it had antlers in the recent past, though I am no expert on moose to be sure. Male moose drop their antlers in the spring so I would expect to see something to indicate that this animal had antlers in the recent past if it were a male. In addition, I saw no, shall we say, extra equipment underneath, though I must confess I was in a bit of a hurry to take the shots while I had the time because the moose was getting a bit nervous and started heading for the brush. Well, hope you enjoy this moose picture. I have a few other images from our trip I will be sharing with you over the next few days. Thanks for the look and comments.

I was SO happy that we were able to see a moose during our trip to Errol, hon...this is a great shot. This moose was a bit shy and you caught her before she went into the brush.

Nice capture of this lovely moose! A lightweight - only 800 pounds or so.... I know they get pretty big! You really got a great shot of her, and just in time it seems. Looks like she was checking you out, too! Glad you had a fun time on your vacation! They end tooooo soon!

Usually if I'm checking to see if something's male or female, I turn it over and check it out but I would thinking putting this one on its back to check would be too much. I'll take your word for it. :-)
