Description

(a redux of an image I did long ago) The Midway was the second of the mighty Hastings-Class Battlecarriers. The lead ship of the class, the Hastings, was lost during Negative Mass Drive testing and neither the vessel nor crew was recovered. The goal of the design was to combine all the best attributes of a battleship with a carrier. While the Midway is more battleship than carrier, it's wing of fighters give it twice the punch of an escort carrier. The ship class mounts the most advanced weapons, and a sophisticated long-range sensor suite that the Protectorate hopes will give them an edge on the Imperial Consortium ships, which have long been able to outflank human warships due to the fact that they use space fold technology to traverse great distances. Model: Hastings-Class Battlecarrier Height: 520 feet (158.5 M) Length: 2,005 feet (611 M) Width: 914 feet (278.5 M) Crew: 98 officers, 3,075 crew members 300 marines 115 flight officers Weapons: 2 x 5 lbs. Nice! Though if the lead ship of the class was lost with all hands before it even got commissioned (assumption on my part), then perhaps the powers that be would rename the class...

Really cool looking orbital scene. I think that working out there would take a lot of getting used to.

Fine render of orbital space. I tend to agree with geirla about the naming of the class of ships, though.
