Description
This morning a face to face with a dragonfly friend who strove in a series of poses and positions. Sometimes I think they understand that I could never hurt them and sometimes even seem to see them smile (I know I'm weird!)
The photo selection is scaittata morning in the gray area and the colors were a bit dark. I then used a simulation hdr effect to restore the lost color shades.
Dragonflies (Libellula Linnaeus, 1758) are a genus of insects belonging to the order of Odonata. The name derives from the Latin Dragonfly "pounds", or balance, so called because the flight takes wings horizontal.
Anatomy
They have a very long head, compound eyes and antennae relatively short, the two pairs of wings, nearly equal, are elongated and membranous, sometimes brightly colored, and allow rapid and safe flight. The abdomen is relatively long and slender, composed of eleven segments. The legs are inserted before the body and are rarely used for walking. They have chewing mouthparts very characteristic: the lower lip ends with small pliers with which the dragonfly grabs the prey. They feed on insects in flight grab and eat and therefore have a silent flight as well as fast, which makes them terrible predators in both air and water.
Reproduction and growth
Reproduction of dragonflies is in the aquatic environment. They are oviparous and having spawned by the elongated leaves fall into water or simply lay down the drums of aquatic plants. Like all the Odonata, the dragonflies undergo incomplete metamorphosis. In all species, eggs hatch into larvae that mature into the water, feeding on other aquatic life, as some of the larger species may even attack small fishes. The larvae of dragonflies have a special jaw, stretch and called "mask", in which affect their prey. The length of nymphal period varies, depending on the species, from one to three or more years, during which the animal meets the outline at least ten times. When the nymphs are fully mature they leave the aquatic environment and undergo metamorphosis, transforming into the adult form.
Good day and good weekend
