Description

(Bug Comic) This follows Cliffhanger by about one minute. After having a giant bug explode next to him and then sliding down the rock face, (and over the edge), Rain managed to slam his feet against the underside of the hanging rock before his Hillbilly Safety Rope* broke. Since the roof of the cave (or bunker, or whatever it is) was a metal surface, the boots stuck to it, though they weren't designed to do this. But he can't see a thing. His IR vision kicks in as soon as he gets too much adrenaline in his system, and hanging upside down in the dark after falling off a cliff, over a fire, isn't helping. He can see the hot spots from the driftwood fire they started, he can tell there aren't any more bugs under the rock, and he knows there is water under him because the holder for the measuring tape made a splash when it fell off of his belt. And he doesn't swim that well. He can't just hang around because if the wind shifts the smoke will suffocate him--just the smell is almost enough to knock him out; it's like a solid wall of rotting plants, carcasses, beetle droppings and burning tires mashed against his face. He'd "walk" to the edge but he's pretty sure as soon as he disengages the boots they won't stick again, and he'll just fall. So he's going to take his shirt, wrap it around the Longbow's optics to protect them, tie the gun to the measuring tape so that Leaf and Randy can pull it up and retrieve it, (whatever happens to him), and try to swing himself over enough that he'll land close to something solid and pull himself out. Hopefully something that isn't on fire. ---- *also known as a 200 meter Spooling Measuring Tape;) Hah, and Shari, his hair isn't perfect;) Credits tomorrow!

heh heh, Hillbilly Safety Rope. Y'know, I'm thinking that burning bugs, bug droppings and bug detritus would really stink. And what's wrong with hanging upsides under???

He always gets into such predicaments! I'm beginning to think he's one of those that has a dark cloud following him around. At least he looks cool hanging upside down with his perfect hair!

dodgy... extremely dodgy... didn't leaf and his friend recognice the situation of rain? or they are to shocked to give effective help? yeah - a little bit help of good friends that's that he needs at the moment... too bad, that he can't swim very well - to be a Mer has some advantages in such moments ( there are the friendly mers if you need one). Or a friendly bug (yes - a friendly bug... not all bugs are cruel. a big butterfly, who's strong enough to carry him out of this situation). ------------------------------------------------------- very nice work... with many details - like the excellent beatle mash... and the reflections at the smoked water... -------------------------------------------------------
