They say it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission! I will state again that Didi (the older daughter) is 18 years old, or 21, depending on what country you live in!
Remember that this series is set in the early 1980's. Dad here came of age in the early '60s, which, as we all know, is very different from coming of age in the late '60s. His notion of a bikini seems a bit dated... And he seems to have reached the These Kids Today age.
This is the start of a "stealth series," for lack of a better word. It's a storytelling experiment! I tell you this now so that the "shocking conclusion" won't seem like it came out of nowhere. STAY TUNED...
