I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Is that real ?....common you've painted them haven't you ? It is a very nice photo to look at God has again dropped his box of paint on nature. His imagination is beyond what we can even dream of !

All those are boys..so heaven knows what the conversation is about! It's a most wonderful shot, and they look even better against the dark background! As for YOUR week, Carin...I can't recommend early retirement highly enough...you'd probably be far better off than you think!

I haven't seen budgies in years but don't remember them as being this colorful. Excellent capture of these guys and wonderful lighting.

Excellent capture, Carin! Things will calm down eventually, hopefully, well, maybe...

bonne photo!

A bunch of fellow Aussies from the desert :). The green ones are the natural wild colour. You should see what a flock of several hundred is like as they zip past so fast you miss the shot. And don't worry, the world cup can't last forever. I saw Andrea's retirement comment but you can't retire from Grandmother duties hehe

Cute shot!

Oh, this is simply marvelous and it's the perfect marker for a week you've survived! I love it when you can get trophies like that! This is a gorgeous shot and the time stamp on it gives you a little reason to pat yourself on the back because it probably also marks the moment things start to get a wee bit easier! As for the shot itself, it's marvelous! Birds are such intriguing creatures and the term "bird brain" has been redefined as science has recently revealed that bird brains are a wee bit more complicated than earlier assumptions of them, so based on that wee bit of almost useless knowledge, I can assume that these guys are talking about...oh, good heavens, is that even printable? Oh, never mind! This is a fantastic shot and I love the heightened color brought out by the darkened background.

Andrea and I are in complete agreement; I bailed 5 years ago, have half the money and ten times the life!! I love this shot, reminds me of one I had years ago--my little brother wanted to see it fly, so let him out of the cage. Off we went--never to be seen again!!
