Description

Happy Summer Solstice to You All! and I hope the weather is a bit better than here! Yesterday a whirlwind hit the eastern part of this province, and it hailed severely on the southern part, leaving 20 cms or more of hail icy stones on the ground. Of course the temperature dropped, and we had to dig wool blanlets and jackets out of the wardrobes. Fortunately I'm so lazy that I hadn't put them away yet, so it was easy to recover them from a chair in the mess of my room... This is the shot I took from the kitchen balcony, on the second floor of a condo. It's the Chinese hairdresser's shop window reflecting the people waiting under the porched pavement for some break in the pour as well as those inside. With a bit of postwork. Thanks for your kind comments.

Surreal, almost ghostly. Superb image! So you hadn't put your heavy blankets away? Procrastination works!

Most unusual image and result - that's what surreal art is... BB

love how you play with images...this looks like a print, with one discernible face almost flattened against the surface, and looking straight at us. She doesn't look thrilled, but doesn't look upset: Just 'waiting'. And the lines of rain & hail are more etched into it than captured. A wonderful play on imagery, but you do that a lot. And you've framed it as if it were a store-bought print on paper. A fine way to usher in the solstice, because summer doesn't just mean high light & heat, it means big storms and sudden drops in temperature. (Come to the midwest US, boy will you get those!) Love your imagination and play. And a happy solstice back to you too!

quello che vorrei capire e' se l'estate e' informata del solstizio, a prima vista sembrerebbe di no ! Bella elaborazione , ottimo post !

This is moody in quite nice ways! The colors are subtle, the impression of rain is rather strong, but not overbearing, the sense of reflection is marvelous. I love the treatment of this: the textures, the visual excitement, the hints at tactile solidity. I agree that it looks a bit dream-like and it's a perfect marker for what has proven to be a rather dramatic Solstice! This is superb work!

Super shot but I can't believe that you had hail this time of year. WOW! Dana

Well, we had heavy sweltery weather - hot, humid - which was fallowed with thunderstorms overnight - some tornadoes here and there (only a few injuries). Two days later though, we got an earthquake - 5.0. Lovely job on that capture by the way.
