Still have not confirmed an ID for this snake on the right above, same snake as yesterday. All the suggestions from yesterday have been ruled out. When it turned and took off it went under this stuff floating on the water and then popped up for this shot. I didn’t even realize till I got home and looked at the shots on the computer, that I got a second snake in the shot. The one on the left is a “Milk Snake?“.
Hope you all enjoy and please zoom.
Thanks for the comments.

What a surprise, you got two in one! Nice tittle, and a fantastic shot, Kim. That tongue from the right one, how 'sneaky'!

A little update here. I am not sure that is a Milk Snake on the left side anymore, there seems to be some conflicting depictions of it in different books and guides. : I went to the book store and picked up some other books and they show different looking snakes as a milk snake from the naturalist guide I had found a likeness in. I now have the Pocket Naturalist guide for Reptiles and Amphibians, Audubon Society Field guide for Florida, Audubon Society for North America Field guide of Reptiles and Amphibians and the Smithsonian Handbook of Reptiles and Amphibians. I can not find a match in any of them for the one one the right. I did the best I could!

Okay, there are just WAAAY to many snakes where you live! I think I'll stay here in NH, LOL...Although we do have a lot of snakes around our koi pond, the ones you have there look a LOT scarier, LOL.

This is a fantastic capture Kim and don't get down on not seeing it in any local books. Keep in mind that we both live in Florida and a lot of the snakes, we see in the wild, are really snakes that were imported and bought as pets. Eventually they escape or get released into the wild. It could be from New Zealand. Dana

http://www.pitt.edu/~mcs2/herp/SoNA.html I read that it is hard to identify some water snakes because they change so much in different stages of life excellent clarity and focus
