Description

Luke Skywalk...,er, Lt. Comdr. John William Charlton Moffat guides his Fairey Swordfish torpedo plane on a fateful run on the night of May 24th 1941. The torpedo hits the port-side after section of the 823 foot battleship Bismarck and jams the rudder 12 degrees to port. As a result of Lt. Comdr. Moffat and his crew's heroic action, the ship is rendered vulnerable to further attack and is forced to scuttle by Home Fleet and Force H. Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you." This is really a fine action scene and I love the lighting effects, too. I think one of the interesting things about this WWII incident is that the Swordfish aircraft flew under 100 mph and were so slow that the German guns were calibrated for much faster aircraft. Result? Not one of the Swordfish were shot down.

Another stunning tale from the high seas. One of many favourite stories from this terrible conflict.A tragic cost in human life, but after the sinking of HMS Hood a much needed boost to British morale. Once again excellent attention to detail and quite stunning FX.

Excellente image.

Amazing that such a powerful battleship was dealt such a blow from the old "Stringbags". Good use of explosive effects here to add to the action.
