Description
The Metallic Starling, also known as Shining Starling, is a native of New Guinea and nearby Australasian islands, and a limited area of NE Australia. The adult has brilliant red eyes, a long tail and green-glossed black plumage. I was concentrating on his beautiful plumage and he jerked his head around to glare at me (thus the blur of his face). The red eyes are real - as he shocked me and flew away. Taken inside the walk through bird enclosure at the Palm Beach Zoo – May 2010.
