Description

In a corner of the picture now growing lotus in Bozzano. In the background the church of Montigiano (right) and center Pieve a Propeller. The highest mountains are part of the Apuan Alps behind. Nelumbo is a genus of aquatic plants, only genre of the family Nelumbonaceae. Includes only two species, originating from America, Asia and Australia, with very decorative leaves and large flowers in white, pink, yellow and red, known by the name of lotus. The species Nelumbo lutea (Willd.) is native to central and southern Europe, but is also cultivated in North America since time immemorial by the natives for food consumption of seeds and rhizomes. The Nelumbo nucifera (Gaertn.) is a rustic species from Asia and Australia, commonly known by the name of the Asian lotus flower. It is a fast-growing aquatic plant, typical of ponds and reservoirs with stagnant water or almost no current, 5-50 cm deep and beyond. Features Are high from 80 cm to over 1 m. The leaves of the lotus flower has a particular surface structure that makes it extremely hydrophobic and keeps constantly clean. This property, with nanotechnology you try to play for other materials such as fabric and paint, is called lotus effect. The flower is composed of more than 20 petals of colors ranging from dark pink to white, the smell is intoxicating. Cultivation Require many hours of full solar radiation and temperature must never drop below 15 ° C, the soil must be very heavy clay or mixed with lapilli, require coverage of 15-20 cm of water, to keep the roots warm and constant temperature, there are hardy varieties that do not need to be protected in winter. These plants produce fruit which, in their immature stage, drop the seeds in water, multiply by division of rhizomes underground, or spring sowing, in optimal conditions, will bloom the first after just four months. They can be grown in a large pot at least 40cm high and 35cm in diameter. Uses Ornamental plants to decorate ponds, pools and ponds, or grown in hydroponic tanks • Details properly dried fruits are used in floral arrangements to decorate the halls and apartments • In lotus, the flowers, seeds, young leaves and rhizomes are all edible. In Asia, the petals are eaten while the leaves are often used as a dish for food. The rhizome (pning in Chinese, Ngau in Cantonese, well, in India and Pakistan, and renkon in Japanese) are used to flavor a soup or fried. The petals, leaves and rhizomes can be eaten raw but also the risk of transmission of parasites, recommends a drink cooked. • In China every year is celebrated in autumn the moon and the day of moon cakes, which eats and gives the traditional moon cake, made with lotus seed paste and salted duck egg yolks. Another shot of great beauty, stunning in its color, composition, and detail! I love the many different blossoms standing straight and tall in various stages of blooming. I like the two open blossoms on the right, one showing signs that its petals will soon start to fall. Further to the left a very tall stem gives witness that its glory days are behind it, yet it stands straight and proud nonetheless. I am fascinated by the inside of lotus flowers. They seem so solid and often look artificial. I like the group of buds on the far left. They look like an audience standing to greet a speaker. Excellent POV with the blossoms leading the eye from their area of dominance to the beautiful mountains in the distance. I love the detail, shape and shading of the leaves in the front. Very interesting information and gorgeous image! Molto interessanti informazioni e immagini bellissime!
