Description

To the right of yesterday’s four arches is the entrance courtyard. The open door, on the right, leads to the draw bridge and around to the back of the castle. Please keep in mind that this was his home. Details on the Hammond Castle, that John Hays Hammond Jr. built, can be read on my July 6, 2010 posting. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

What a shot! WOW! Oooh! I love the details and the details on top of those details. That stone work really has me going, but that's 'cause I love a good bit of stonework. Funny, I'm glad this isn't the normal sort of castle--you know...dank and a wee bit smelly. This has an airy feel to it that I enjoy quite a lot, and the whole mood of the photograph evokes a whole range of images and impressions in my mind. Your attention to detail is quite nice, especially since there's a sense of distance in this shot that could conceivably obscure detail...but thankfully, it doesn't. That takes skill, especially in terms of composition. Yeah, this rocks! (Eh, actually it's quite stationary, but you know what I mean.)

Wow...we have GOT to go visit this place!! I LOVE this courtyard! It has such a medieval look to it, yet was built not all that long ago. Wish MY yard looked like this, LOL
