Description

Hi! I've been busy and haven't been around much. I haven't even had much time to look at these photos I took on Father's Day. I finally got to look at them today :) I was very pleased with this one.. I think it is some kind of Cholla Cactus. I am not very good at identifying stuff... I search and look at photos and they all start to look alike to me. :P This was taken in Victorville, California. My previous upload, "Sweet Intoxication". thanks for your visits/comments and faves :) I am starting to realize how important light is, and I am trying to capture/use it better. It is a challenge for me. But it makes me feel like I am growing and learning as a photographer. Have a great weekend! HUGS, ~Melinda~

Chola is deadly but the blossoms are heavenly. Your capture shows the better side of chola - most lovely.

Stellar contrast, focus and textures in this shot of the cactus blooms, Melinda, and with that magenta color a variety I have never seen before.

Stunning! It's also good to see such vibrant and rich colors...and yeah, light (and its opposite) really serves to make a photo pop: once you're aware of that then you've got more of an artistic palate to play with and that's never a bad thing. I'm like you in the plant-identification department: I really don't know my plants, which means I'm glad I have never been stuck in a forest and had to know which plants were edible and which were not! Ah...but like mushrooms, you can eat ANY plant once. This is gorgeous and I love the intense, popping color!
