Description

I was sitting out on may patio the other morning, enjoying a cup of coffee and the outdoors, and a dragonfly decided to fly in and take a rest on one of my plants. I ran inside, grabbed my camera, and tried to sneak up on the critter, snapping a shot every few steps. It took off before I could get too close, but I suppose that doesn't matter much as I didn't have the macro lens on the camera. But this shot turned out okay.. I cropped it and put a fuzzy border around it. The past couple of days it has been Hot! Hot!! HOT!!; Triple digit temps and humidity. Thank God for air-conditioning :) My previous upload, "Cactus Flowers". Thanks so much for taking the time to visit, leave comments and fave :) I haven't had much time to visit your galleries, sorry :( Keep Cool! Hugs, ~Melinda~

Splendid! We've had similar temperatures and I've had the heat-induced headaches to prove it. As for this picture: WOW! This is spectacular, elegant, beautiful, and for me, uplifting. Things are weird here in Chicago so I take great comfort in stuff like the everyday existence of insects: it's amazing how insects, plants, and larger animals tend to put things in perspective. And I love the colors in this shot, the textures and the wonderful mood of it.

This nature shot came out pretty good considering the hasty circumstances, Melinda! I wish I could get similar insect life out where I live. I do see bees and a wasp every so often, though. As for the heat, it hit a blistering 105.1 Fahrenheit degrees in my patio today, and I live closer to the ocean than you. Summer is back with a vengeance!
