Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Great Scott! So it is! Imagine that on the move when you're out in your sailing dinghy!

nevertheless a cool shot, and somewhat spooky like parts of this big one seem to vanish in the haze...smile

Reminds me of the Titanic. ;c) A boat can fit onto a ship, but a ship cannot fit onto a boat.

We need a bigger boat (comment made by Roy Scheider when he spotted the enormous white shark in the movie, JAWS). Superb ambiance and lighting effects in this nautical capture, Maz! Anchors Away!

Great POV & shot!

A huge cargo vessel...218m X 32m.... Perfect shot of this ship. Aloha

Yeah, it's most definitely a ship...of quite cargo-carrying proportions too! Just think of the displacement this puppy causes, especially if she were to ever reach cruising speed! YOWZA! This is a really great shot too! Those anchors are immense and a wee bit heavy...ah, but they have to be in order to keep big whompin' puppies like this where they're supposed to be! I love the POV on this...it's kinda like a beauty-shot of the USS Enterprise only without Jerry Goldsmith music playing in the background as an itty-bitty shuttle zips around the behemoth in question, giving the boarding crew a pretty good view of their new home. Yeah, I like this!

Beautifully cropped shot of the Marinicki. You are right one big ship! I just looked it up and was amazed to find that there are web sites that you can go to now that give you real time information on ships like this. As of this comment, the Marinicki is 76 miles off Ocean Shores, Washington bearing 267 degrees at 16 mph enroute to Inchon, South Korea. Glad you made the name so prominent:-) Neat pic...like the vignetting.

Jip ... that's a cargo ship, all right! Excellent capture! I bet you don't get a lot of those docking where you live.

I love this! Very evocative! Reminds me of a second season X-Files episode who's title now escapes me. An X-Files episode title that I can't remember? I'm obviously losing my touch! But enough of all that. This is a GREAT shot! Creates a wonderful mood and lets you know just how ginormous the thing is. Geez, I've owned entire cars smaller than those anchors. WOW!

super cool

Fantastic shot and wan't Bill's info funny? I've got an aircraft carrier anchor - B&W 45 year old photo around her someplace. I'll have to find it and scan it in for you. Who set the spotlight on the anchor? Dana
