Description

This is a shot from back in May. Though I haven't seen this behavior lately, there were plenty in May all over the lemon tree and got quite a few shots of different individuals with a variety of catches. This is a small Muscid fly (5mm) and I believe its a type of midge that it has for a victim. Another macro photographer said he had seen this before, but didn't know if these Muscid flies hunt or just scavenge other insects. I had no idea these little ones were insectivores. Always learn something new shooting insects. Thanks for looking. Bruce shot with the 50mm 2.5 and close-up filters.

Maybe he was just having a cuddle? Crisp and clear as ever, you make me want to invest in a new lens.
