What do you see?
First of all, this is a very successful basketball team. This is early in the game. The other team was threatening. The score was close and lead changes frequent.
What do you see in the coach's face? What do you see in the faces of the players? How about their body language? The best player on the team is the girl on the far right with red hair and her back to us. The starting players have white shirts. The reserve bench players still have their green warm-up jackets on.
I've noticed, having watched lots of basketball games, that a second rate team can threaten a first rate team for some time, at least during the first half.
What do you think the coach is saying? [yes, this is basketball...but this scene could be for any team sport played by men or women].

I think the coach is crapping on them... the captain drinks her water but thinks... "I told you so..." The players are listening intensely but also a little bored because the captain gave them the same speech... The hands in the sides body language also makes me think that the players could be a bit cocky!!! Or something like that! Great people shot Bill!!!

I think the coach is non to pleased & told the players to get out there & buck their ideas up. The best player is not taking much notice as she knows she is good & doesn't need to be told to pull her socks up. The others are a bit upset that the other team is better than they thought. Unfortunately the best team got a wake up call :o)

Great shot, Bill. Not knowing the team dynamics, the coach is coming across as an adviser (tan suit): a leader/authority figure would wear a Navy blue suit. But he does have the power red tie.

He's saying: let's win one for the Gipper, or, this is the biggest game of your life, or, you gotta pick up your energy, especially on defense, or, people payed good money to watch you play, so let's give them a good show! The coach looks a little like the british actor Phil Davis or perhaps it's just me. Judging by their expressions I think he's telling them they play like the England football team so shape up! Great post Bill.
