Description

A couple-three weeks ago I walked around the neighborhood with my camera, on a mission to work on macro shots. I got some pretty good ones, which was encouraging! These maple leaves were such an unusual color for June ... I couldn't resist them! (That smudge on the left side of the main leaf isn't a postwork artifact ... the leaf really did have that much color variation!)

The fence is the perfect color to showcase the color of the leaves. This is a beautiful reminder to us of how pretty autumn will be.

Ah good. I get to use the word minimalist:) [often interpreted as a reaction against Abstract expressionism and a bridge to Postmodern art practices]. Love the simplicity of your composition... Very nicely done.

The red veins are a treat. I have seen some varieties that display different colors throughout the year but this one is lighter than most. Lovely shot.

You know, I looked at this and wondered if it's a Japanese Maple...they make use of a lot more xantophyl (or whatever the red pigment is called) than the familiar chlorophyl...but I can't really be sure. The leaves aren't as skinny and Japanese-ish, so it might be a Sugar Maple, or a rare Seattle Random Neighborhood Maple. At any rate, it's incredibly gorgeous, and I do love the color variations. I wonder if it's due to temperatures? Maples tend to shift colors quite a lot if there's any sort of so called "disturbance in the force." I remember learning THAT from my childhood. The colors in this are superb, as is the overall composition. This rocks!

Indeed, not what you would expect from the June season... but nature always has it's own secrets and agenda... what a sensational colour, and the contrast of the background is delightful!
