Description

Leaving the Great Hall, in the Hammond Cattle, you enter this courtyard. Surrounding the courtyard is the dining room, 20,000 book library, inventions room, war room, Hammond room, bedrooms on the second level and servants room on the third floor. Above the servants rooms, is a small room where the Hammonds could sit, on a bench, and listen to piano and organ concerts without having to be in the crowded hall. The two large doors, at the top of this posting, lead back to the Great Hall. The pool is 8 ½ feet deep but was filled with a special green dye to give the illusion of only being a foot deep. You can see the reflection, of the huge plate glass ceiling, which had sections that could be opened to control temperature and humidity. There is also a sprinkler system up there to simulate rain and/or fog. Details on the Hammond Castle, can be read on my July 6, 2010 posting. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

What an ostentatious display of affluence. Another fine POV employed as you continue your extensive tour about the castle, Dana! I like the undulating effects of the pool in this cool capture.
