BIOI am a Florida native, I grew up in a Mayo, Florida on a tobacco, chicken and watermelon farm. I am 32 and currently enrolled at the University of South Florida, studying to become an Industrial Engineer. My great-great grandfather was one of the first photographers in Florida. I use a Canon 40D and a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30. I enjoy nature photography and macro photography.

Funny how ants and wasps are so similar...well...they are first cousins. This is a marvelous shot! I happen to have quite an affection for stinging wasp-y things and so this is something I'd definitely appreciate. I love your choice of monochrome as well...it actually allows more of the details to emerge. Colors might have detracted from that...and WOW! Will you look at the diffraction pattern in the compound eyes! That is one of the stunning bits of this altogether stunning capture. I like this a lot!
