Last September I created a a historical portrait of Olympias, the mother of Alexander the Great. As with Spartacus, my Olympias was inspired by a film portrayal, in this case performed by Angelina Jolie in the film Alexander. For Olympias I was working towards a likeness of the portrayal of the role and not the actress herself; naturally, there was still a fair similarity. A few weeks later I returned to the Olympias files and adapted the morph to look more like Angie. After posting a single portrait I never did come around to working with her again. Last night I came upon the original of that portrait and treated it to some slight modifications and a few additional brushstrokes. I thought some of you would like to see the result. To put the whole of a character, the whole of a person's life, knowledge and experience into a portrait is a daring challenge. It can be done. Since people can show their life's experience and wisdom in their faces for others, who have that intention to read, so can a portrait show it. I'm not familiar with the Olympias character, but with this picture the "Ev'rywhere I look I see your eyes" is quite understandable. A beautiful portrait.

That song always makes me think - which in turn gives me a headache!!! ;D LOL I adore your art, the way you are able to bring life into the characters, especially their eyes is truly amazing!!! And her eyes are no different - there is such life and depth to them - simply stunning!!! I have a thing for Ms. Jolie so any image you make with her will be at the top of my viewing list! ;D {Giggle, giggle} Until...

of course the song popped straight into my head.i was in amsterdam living on a potboat at that time lol. came slightly after the flower power went a bit down the drain, and more hard drugs took over on the market. fantastic.
