Description

It is time for you to release your hold upon the past.  You are no longer of Thrace.  You are destined for great and wonderful things.  Embrace the path the gods have set you upon.  You are the Bringer of Rain ... the Slayer of Death.  Together we shall etch the name of Spartacus into the pillars of history. -Quintus Lentulus Batiatus
No depictions of the actual Spartacus have survived to our time.  I have been enchanted lately by the idea of how such a portrayal might appear.  What would a Roman era portrait of the Champion of Capua look like were archaeologists to come upon one? The model used for Spartacus in this work and all others in my gallery is a self-crafted character I developed in order to produce a series of portraits from the Spartacist era.  If you are also inspired by the recent series about Spartacus then definitely take a look, if you have not already done so, at Joanna's (StudioArtVartanian) wonderful Spartacos character here at her store. If you are developing arena scenes than also take a look at Don Webster's brand new Gladiator Helmet just released today. May you be enjoying a weekend of focused production or relaxing calm ... whichever floats your boat at the moment!  :-) With warmest regards, Terry   The image below will take you to:     The Face That Made Rome Tremble     thumb_2072227.jpg

Brilliant concept perfectly executed. Technically your colours and postwork convey the feeling of an aged yet beautifully painted wall. But besides that you've also captured the soul of your character that has remained timeless.
