I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

I think you've done a pretty passable job based on the photograph I saw. (BTW, I didn't realize at first that it's a 360 degree image - hold down left mouse button and you can rotate the photo in a circle). I think the biggest difference is the coloring - the photo colors are deeper, brighter and more vivid. But I'll bet you could get very close to that if you played round in TG2 a little bit.

That's great!

Hey George, that's pretty funny - never thought of it that way. And, thanks to all of you for visiting. I may try a rework on this one.

Superb work.

Another excellent render Bob. I have had a chance to play around with Terragen a bit lately and really appreciate the labor of love you have with the program. Like I said before try adding a curves layer in Photoshop. It makes it more vivid like George mentions in his comment.

This is really nicely composed, Bob - it must be fun to try to imitate / capture nature. Frankly, I don't have the patience for it, so I got to admire your tenacity.

Nice Bob...but, you know me...contrast and color freak. Great image but IMHO :)...a tad bit of contrast and a dash more color and this would be a photo!!! Hoover Man strikes again, excellent work. I may have to change your nik to "Desert Man" or "Desert King" or even better...."Desert Rat" After all you are old enough to remember the "Rat Pack" :)

I've seen this terrain and ground cover color in my travels. Love the point of view, sky and overall lighting. Excellent again.

The diversity of the clouds also lends to much in the realism department as well. This very nice Bob!!!
