I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

looking good Bob, just for fun I ran it through Photoshop starting off making it a smart object then adding a curves adjustment layer on auto, shadows/highlights adjustment along with a high-pass sharpening layer set to overlay set at 70% opacity and it looks like a real photo crisp and clear. Thanks for the tip about Oloneo. I'll check it out.

Much improved lighting. I like it. One more suggestion, however, the ground looks too purple on my monitor. Could be my monitor, although!!!

I like this very much. It brings pleasure to see this beauty, virtual though it may be -- you found a piece of heaven and stole it and set it in front of us.

It's a great improvement Bob!I think Oshyan had a good suggestion! It's an accepted methodology to "enhance" with postwork! We all do it & most artists will agree it's O.K. as long as we don't overdo it & that we admit the postwork was done. Thanks for the tip concerning Oloneo in conjunction with Photoshop too! BTW if you were to change the color of the ground surface to a black lava, you would have a very close approximation for "Craters of The Moon" near Boise,Idaho!

I like the rich colors in this version Bob; reminds me of some of the Arizona Highways covers I saw as a kid.
