My name is Clive, resident in Cape Town, South Africa. I am an amateur photographer who has been enjoying the medium in a more serious manner since 2003.
I took a trip to the UK armed with a Minolta Maxxum 7000 that I had inherited from my Dad.
Out of the holiday snaps, I managed to get a few that I felt were quite good, but had no idea of how I managed to get them 'right'.
Since then I have done a couple of courses in the darkroom and joined a local photographic society where I was on the committee for a while.
Hopefully I am getting it 'right' more often these days.
I have a Minolta Maxxum 7 and being tied into the lens system, the Sony A100 DSLR was my introduction to the digital world. This has recently been upgraded to the Alpha SLT-A55 and I have to admit that I have shot more digital in the last five years than film!
My daughter Kristen (Kris10) and son Sean (fotoSean) have accounts here too, in the hope that they will learn too and share my passion! Sadly they have been rather quiet of late, much like their dad...
August 2015 marks the end of my 3 years as coordinator for the Photographic section of Renderosity. What a wonderful time of my life that I thoroughly enjoyed! Thank you all for the opportunity!
Keep the smile alive,
Clive

Very a-peeling Clive!!! These plants do not usually survive our winters here on the Highveld but if you plant them on the Northern side in a protected corner and cover them over for the harshest part of winter, we can grow them here! Great plant!

Wow! This is certainly different and wonderful to admire! I love the colours, that soft pink and green is just beautiful, and can just imagine what the full look would produce for the eye! A most interesting species here as well! Thank you so much for the info... from the thumbnail, I thought they were fishies :) Great subject and presentation indeed!

Stunning capture Clive. I presume the Bird Of Paradise and the Banana tree are family as their flowers looks similar. There is just a difference in the color of the flowers.

Fascinating information, and a wonderful shot! Carin's comment reminded me again that we're at opposite ends of the earth. Here, the sunny protected side of the house is always the south wall.
