Description
Captured 6/12/10, at the Centennial Aviation Day celebration held on the grounds of the beautiful Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum in Carson, California.
As I usually suggest, better viewed full size.
Since the aviation display was a disappointing washout, I couldn't let the trip go to waste, so I decided to concentrate on other things, mainly the colorful individuals who were at the event, e.g., the performers, photographers, people clad in clothing of that long ago era, etc.
Wouldn't it be cool if people still dressed that way? No, you don't think so? Things would be so elegant and gracious now.
I wonder if she has a cellphone in her purse.

Such fun!

In this hot weather such clothing would be a burden. Actually this picture should have been in black and white in the abundance of gray scale tones which were in albumin pictures from that time. But hoe to simulate that in pixels? At the highest you have 256 gray tones, which is only a small part of what was possible in that old albumin technique.

Helleshoj: Excuse me, but if I'm not mistaken there was such a thing as color back around the turn of the 20th century. Despite what is shown in the old photos in your family albums, people did not live in a black and white world back then. And, if you recall any of the movie musicals with Judy Garland harking back to that era, such as Easter Parade and Meet Me in St Louis, those were filmed in color. Albumin? Black and white? 256 gray tones? Not this time around.

I am very impressed by all the details in their costumes, handsome couple.. She appears to be looking up at the sky and dreaming that she could fly with her umbrella like Mary Poppins.. I would say this couple looks 'practically perfect in every way'

I love the style of clothing from that era and the pomp & circumstance that went with it. Great find, great capture and great share. Dana

What elegance and grace! I really love the couture of yesteryear!!! However - wearing it in this day and age... not enough time! I think it takes way to long to get all the pieces on and in place... I will miss half my appointments! Jeans and sweater is so much easier! lol... Great shot Harry!

This pair looks very fascinating. They on the full sun in black dress, might be a bit unconfortable but seems to me they have a jolly time.
