Description

The Chronicles of Inthandonia Part 4. The Wizard Wars. The Green Dragon at Spung. "On the far eastern coastline of Darthan, north of the vast volcano known as Mount Taran, there lay the small city of Spung. Here was a thriving seaport and market town on the main trading route between Flenge in Taran and the sheep-dotted moor-lands of Gelt. Travellers arriving at Spung from the south first came to the popular Green Dragon Inn nestling comfortably on a rise overlooking the harbour and city. Here the weary pilgrims and merchants would stop to slake their thirsts with a quenching ale and wash the road dirt from their bodies in the steam-filled bath-house behind the inn. New arrivals would be meet with a friendly woof and a wagging tail from Rendle, the Landlords trusty hound who lounged by the arched doorway. In the evenings the Green Dragon would come alive with the convivial soft roar of conversation as the travellers mingled with the regular patrons, swapping stories from the roads and far off seaports of the two continents of Inthandonia. Many of these tales were overheard by the Landlords youngest lad, a youth with more than just a little touch of geomantic magick about him. His name was Thastus and, in the fullness of time he would win fame and renown as Thastus of Spung, the greatest cartographer in Inthandonian history. He would hear some story from a far flung exotic place and that night he would dream. His dreams were peculiarly vivid and the following day he would be able to draw those far-off places with an incredible accuracy. Travellers from those places would look upon the youngster's paintings and sketches and be amazed to learn that Thastus had never been there, never ventured beyond the outskirts of Spung. Some scholars say that it was Thastus of Spung and his fabulously detailed dream maps of Inthandonia that were the ultimate cause of the Skrellian Atrocity and the subsequent Wizard Wars. This is because eventually one of Thastus' world maps found its way into the hands of an as yet unknown Wizard by the name of Bolgaradol Smekter." Extract from "The Dragons Tale; A biography of Bolgaradol Smekter" by Provid Cromik. ******* This is a reposting of an earlier picture (The Green Dragon Inn, posted june 21, 2008) that I'm placing here to maintain the chronology of the story. Most of these models were made by me using various versions of trueSpace. Included is the Fantasy Castle and Tyrolean Castle from www.cornucopia3d.com and one of Rodluc's excellent freebie castles from Renderosity.

I have a particular fondness of the Green Dragon Inn. Beautiful image! Really nice view of Sprung in the background. Sounds like young Thastus had an interesting upbringing.
