Description

Here's another WIP of my latest steam punk engine. Pretty happy. The rail and ladder really give a huge scale to this beasty. Next I need to work on the control cabin. Maybe in the style of a steamer ship. Not sure yet. Thanks for looking. All ideas appreciated.

It looks awesome! Have a question though. Would they use chains instead of bands to power the wheels? So there would not be any slippage and less chance of something breaking. Maybe something like a bicycle chain.

Wonderful! I love the look. And yes, the ladders and walkways show the scale. My only suggestion would be to make the flywheels bigger to supply more torque to the wheels. It's been a long time since I worked on model steam engines (I used to be a scale RR builder, but that was a long time ago).

Before you do the control cabin, you might want to do something about steering gear and connecting the front wheels to the main body. I would make a rotating joint in the middle of the front axle bar with some really big steam pistons on either side for steering. Then you could mount the control cabin over the front axle on some kind of framework extending from the main body. Steamship cabins are OK. But I would do something different. Design it like a flipped over airship (Dirigible Zeppelin) gondola. I don't think I have seen one like that on a steampunk tractor before. :) Just some ideas. Let me know what you think.
