USS Discovery Science Officer Lt Commander Walsh recently decided she needed a change in her life, both personally and professionally. After several years as a professor at Starfleet Academy and raising a family on Earth, Peggy requested and was granted a transfer to active duty. Her children are all adults with their own careers, her husband William died a few years ago. A favorite professor at the Academy, she is respected by the crew for her no nonsense attitude and wealth of knowledge. She does occasionally forget that her fellow crew are not her students, especially one that gave her quite a hard time in classes who is now commanding the ship.
