Description
The general shape and flow of this tree follows that of a weeping willow, though the clawtrap appears more like a naked and bloated abomination, lacking the thin and slender lines of the willow’s branches. Much of the clawtrap is nothing but thick, bare limbs, and as the tree ages, many of the limbs will touch the ground. The clawtrap may look like a huge mass of roots that were recently ripped out of the ground and sitting on top of a large trunk. All of the tree’s fat and stumpy branches grow in a downward arc, and only a small crown at the very top of the organic structure points up to the sky, like a hand reaching up. Younger and smaller clawtraps are sometimes known as ‘crabtrees’, due to their less numerous, and open-spaced branches, the tips of these formed in a shape similar to crab pincers or fingers. The only ‘leaves’ found are those sprouting from the ‘fingertips’ of the branches, creating a short string of small, inline, triangular leaflets. Contrary to their appearance, the deep blue glossy leaflets are not sharp and have a soft rubbery feel. These are quite edible to the native herbivores. Pulling the cord out from the branch ends is fairly easy. With little force, the string of leaflets is removed, revealing a succulent mass of stringy ‘fruit’ grown at the other end of the cord. This action provokes the clawtrap’s sinister character.

Nice work. I like the sinister feel of it. I have been thinking about trying to work with Bryce myself.
