Description
In the Henley Rowing Museum, they have an extensive exhibit of models based on the illustrations in Kenneth Grahame's 'The Wind In The Willows'.
This is the scene where Badger, Rat and Mole arrive at Toad Hall on their mission to prevent Toad from frittering away his inheritance.
The scenes are all based on the original illustrations by E.H.Shepard and are all excellent representations.
Well worth the visit.

Is that a hubcap I see fallen off behind the car out of view? Nice captue kev, quite a few of mine seemed to come out OK, but I didn't catch that angle. Almost as a movie shot angle.

I've only just recently discovered The Wind in the Willows and I'm quite taken by the characters. They remind me of some of the characters I encountered while in the Czech Republic--a family of bees living in a garden and usually having quirky adventures with German-accented catarpillars (with leiderhosen...how do you spell that word?) and other garden creatures, including a spider who runs a toll bridge...it's all in Czech, but you can generally follow the stories quite easily just by watching and listening to the musical cues, or drinking lots of beer with Czech friends who get all mushy and sentimental whenever they see an episode of that show. The same goes for "Cheburashka," a hero of Soviet Russia...he's cute to almost fatal levels, but his adventures are just as charming and in a way that's strangely "Russian" oddly melancholy in parts. Anyway, this image has that same sort of clever charm and purity, and I quite like it.
