Description
Today would have been my Mitzi's 15th Birthday. I wrote this a while ago, so I thought I'd post it here in honour of my girl.
I hope you don't mind that I've made a new friend.
Though I couldn't have cared for you more.
You were a joy, from beginning to end.
From the second you walked in my door.
The love that you gave me cannot be surpassed.
Your loyalty shone like the sun!
You were my true friend, right up to the last
A bond that cannot be undone.
I cannot replace you. I won't even try.
But I hope that you can understand.
Many are left that continue to cry
In kennels, with no helping hand.
So please do not mind that I've made a new friend
Of one who was sad and in pain.
Receive all the love I continue to send.
'Till we are together again.

A lovely tribute to a very good friend.

She would be thrilled for you and Barney. I've had seventeen dogs so far, mainly in 2's and 3's and now 4 as you know, and I'm certain they would all have loved to meet each other. Fourteen is a phenomenal age for a dog of Mitzi's size!

The thing about loved ones is that they're always with you. If they're canine or feline, they're always with you, unconditionally, and if they're canine, then they're social to the degree that other canine companions just give them things to talk about when you're off doing those odd human things! Thought my life, I've had and lost pets due to old age and such (most were cats) and in many ways, they're all still with me...probably hissing and arguing with each other. Cats! What can you do? But dogs...ah...dogs are so easy going, so energetic...so bouncy, and that's something to cherish, to respect, to learn from, and to keep close to your heart, as you're doing here! This is a touching, great post.

A wonderful poem for your beloved Mitzi, they so capture our hearts & take some away when they have to leave us. Barney keeps you smiling :o)
