Description
...This P-51B Mustang was recovered from a beet field in Little Walden, England [I know, UK:)] in 2002 where it had slept for 57 years following a crash in June 1945.
...It now flies regularly out of Paine Field, Everett, Washington about 3 miles from our house.
...My three pictures were all taken at a mid-July Fly-In in Arlington, Washington. This was before I began to figure out the mysteries of prop blur. LOL
Here's the exciting backstory of how it got into the beet field and back out.

Quite the plane, even if the markings (early in the aircraft's history) don't correlate with the modifications done on the aircraft (later in the aircraft's history). nice shots.

Absolutely incredible! I can't remember any notice of a WWII aircraft restored to a flying condition in Russia. Perhaps I am not so well-informed? wonder if I could use your wonderful photos and the story at one of Russia's sites, Bill. Author's name will be preserved, of course!

Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes. Intriguing story to go along with these fine fotos of the storied fighter, Bill. I seem to recall a television program that featured the renovation of a Lockheed P-38 that was salvaged out of the Greenland ice.

A VERY rare 'B' model! Without looking at the site, I would guess this was an old RAF plane as they used allot of 'B' model's, as Recon aircraft.. But, hey! I could be wrong.. who cares, it looks fabulous... And its amazing what lays around fields and mountains even now in England... Top photo! Wonderful! Rob

Oh my dear lord! What a name! I love it...I might have to steal...um, I mean appropriate that name for a spacecraft! What a story behind the plane as well! I love it when history rears its head in...beet fields of all places. And the photos themselves are quite wonderful and deliciously crisp. I love the mechanical details, the sheer aeronautical beauty--ain't planes just grand!? In short, these are three fantastic shots. This is a great triptych! Marvelous. (Impatient Virgin...hmmm...that sounds like trouble!)
