Description

Imagine my surprise coming across this one day as I was driving towards the Smoky Mountains. This is a new attraction that has opened in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. It is quite an impressive museum to visit. A couple of things that were quite interesting to me were, they have built a replica of the original grand stair case of the Titanic and the cost of building that alone cost more today then it cost to build the entire original ship, also when you first arrive you are handed a boarding pass with a name of a former passenger with a short biography on it, and at the end of the tour there is a wall with the names engraved of those that survived the disaster and then those that didn't. The name on my boarding pass was Mary Hewlitt and she was from Lucknow, India and traveling to go see her son in South Dakota she was along the 706 survivors of the original 2,223 passenger and crew aboard the Titanic that went down at sea on April 10th, 1912. This photo was taken outside the museum, as no cameras are allowed inside the attraction. Oh I forgot to mention the best part I got to tour this with one the members here, thanks Michael I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. very impressive looking ship from the POV. And it sounds like a very interesting museum and a nice deication to those that were lost in that tragic event.

This is a fascinating tour, it sounds like. I really resent the museums that say no photos. We are able to take photos of the inside of the museum in Carson City, and that I appreciate greatly. It's no skin off their noses, as I like to say. ;o)

And after the shipwreck they changed the system for the lifeboat. Such a great and wonderful boat that did the same and run it have not been able to save everyone because of lack of boats sauvetage. Now it is mandatory to have the numbers of boats and place of men . with the same number of people that have the right to "Keep it like as ((5 + +)) Et c'est après ce naufrage qu'ils ont changer le systême pour les chaloupe de sauvetage . Un si grands et admirable bateau qui as couler pareill et qu'il n'as pas pu sauver tout le monde faute de manque de chaloupes de sauvetage.Maintenant il est de rigueur d'avoir le nombres de chaloupes et leur places . avec le même nombre de personne qu'il ont le droit d"embarquer comme ((5++))

A very memorable and interesting bit of history here, Kate Winslet & Leonardo de Caprio couldn't have been too convincing in the movie, I just couldn't cry - unlike everybody else, I know... but the real advent runs shivers down my spine - but I am glad, that you survived that ordeal ! BB

I've never heard of this place. It is always intriguing how that particular disaster still captures the imaginations of so many.

Dramatic! This is quite a striking shot and the details are marvelous. I love the POV as well. Quite a nice shot and I love the idea of those boarding passes; it makes history a bit more tangible without cheapening it to amusement park proportions. Great shot! I like this a lot.

What a powerful and impressive shot, especially when you read the words "Titanic". It's a cool idea for a museum to give out tickets. Did you feel underdressed to climb the grand staircase or did you wear and evening gown for the occasion? What fun! Excellent shot.
