Kar’Dhaer doesn’t run on good wishes. Nor do all the wondrous things, the lab supplies, the machinery, the spell components merely appear out of thin air thanks to Baellius and Dove Zhinzh’s gracious Krell charity. Kar’Dhaer costs money to run, huge amounts of money, over 14 million talens annually, and the SGL and Silver Gryphon have their own expenses to deal with. Students must pay, and they pay dearly. Even with generous contributions from the governments of the Western Alliance, tuition is close to 5,000 talens a year, more than many commoners in Carellon, Atheae or the Symballan Empire even make. Some students are forced to leave because they can’t afford to continue. Some find other means to supplement their finances. And though Dove discourages such things, students do get involved in things outside of classes, especially on summer and winter breaks. There’s a reason some people call Kar’Dhaer, Adventure U.

Saernimil, Barret, Aegiea and Fritz had wondered into adventure quite by mistake. It had not been their intent to form a venture company or start collecting treasure, but Fritz’s insatiable appetite for all things shiny and valuable soon put them in a strange position, they had booty from their dark adventures. Shutting down a Tarkanian/Thune smuggling and slavery operation, and vanquishing a dark Thunate Jhiccara necromancer, put them on the map. Realizing that their tuition worries were solved for another two years,… well, that was enough to get even the ever dour Aegiea to smile. Fortunately there was a Dwarf tinker in town who would take a chromatagraph for a small fee.
