Description

This is a small corner of the Parker-Fersen house at 1409 E. Prospect in Seattle, Washington. (What ... you thought I was going to show you the whole thing??? LOL!) This Colonial Revival house was built in 1909 by a man who made his fortune (in part) in a stock embezzling scheme. The mansion was later purchased by the illetitimate son of Czar Nicholas II, and it again changed hands in 1987 when a perfectly respectable couple bought it with restoration in mind. You can read more about the history of this house in a newspaper article and look at a slightly blurry photograph if you're interested in seeing the entire house. The Parker-Ferson house sits atop Capitol Hill on a street that was once known as "Millionaire's Row." It's directly across the street from the water tower at Volunteer Park.

A just right "tk style" photo of a beautiful old Seattle home. The added newspaper article is a very worthwhile piece from which to garner the short history of this fascinating place.

WOW! What a history. Of course I glommed onto the bit about the illegitimate son of Czar Nicholas II. What a person to have in a bit of local history; I wonder if he had his dad's good looks? As for this shot, it's marvelous and quite rich. I love the lines of that corner and the stark whiteness. I love the composition and the nice progression from light to shadow. Yeah, this is good.

Fascinating architectural details and style. Love houses and buildings with some history attached to them. ;o) Excellent image, by the way, it shows the dentil moldings quite well.

Wonderful capture of a beautiful mansion. I love old houses like this and as a former real estate appraiser I know the quality that goes into them. Beautifully maintained. Interesting chain of ownership. I guess evolution works.
