Description

This Prickly pear cactus will bring the Paw hole hike to a close. This area is the most southern tip within the Coyote butte wilderness. Should mention that the south unit is easier to acquire permits to if you do not win the lottery drawing for the north unit. You also can hike that very same day unlike the north Coyote buttes. Yup, in San Antonia when I lived there, I grew cotton in the back yard and prickly pear in the front yard. I loved the blooms that burst open in spring..but they are so tender, they only lasted for a day before they started to wither away. But like you show here, the vibrant sunny yellow is just incredible.

We had some of the prickly pear cactus in the garden at our last house. I didn't plant any here, just because I got tired of working around them, for obvious reasons. ;c) The blossoms are amazing.
