Description
Ateia walked behind Nani and Mala as they danced along the hangerbay floor. The woman was so happy to see her daughter having such a wonderful time with the girl Mala. She'd always hated having to take her on her missions for Skywalker and the Republic, but they had no family that she could stay with. That's why Ateia was so excited to train Joshua. It would allow Nani to have a semblance of a normal life. Well, as normal as it was possible to have around the Montal family. They were...different.
Ateia was astounded at how strongly Force sensitive all of them were. Especially Peenk, and the youngest, Bitty. They could become strong Jedi if they trained. But all of them seemed to have a strong fear of training as a Jedi. But given what had happened to Magenta's first husband, Boz, who could blame them. Ateia missed Boz. He'd always been such a good friend. Even if he kept trying to get her to turn away from the main Jedi Order, and return to Corellia, the world of her birth, and become one of the eccentric group of Jedi that defended the Corllian system.
"Mother!" Nani said, raising her voice and startling her mother back to the real world. "Are you awake?"
"Oh, sorry. I was just thinking about things. What do you you need?"
"We were asking you what you thought of how Joshua looks so much like his father."
"It is amazing how much the two of them look alike. Except for those sexy green eyes his father has." The two girls grinned.
"So you think a married man is sexy, huh?" Nani said in mock shock.
"Well, it's not like I'm going to jump him." Ateia said in a high pitched, nasally tone before dropping down to a sultry purr. "Besides, he's seventy four million lightyears away." The girls glanced at each other again and laughed.
"I wonder if his father is as short as Joshua?" Ateia wondered.
"No!" Mala cut her off. "Josh says his father is almost two feet taller than he is."
"Joshua said his family was taller than he was." The woman said. "But he didn't say they were that tall."
"Yes. He's supposed to be an attempt to bring their size down to that of the normal Humans. But he said it failed. He said his seven year old daughter is almost as tall as he is."
"Seven, huh?" Nani interrupted. "I guess she's too young to hang with us."
"Sure she will. He told me they grow very quickly. So at seven, she's physically and mentally about fifteen."
"That's good. I wonder what he was arguing about with his father when we got ushered out by Mama Jedi here?" Nani asked as she jerked her thumb in her mother's direction.
"Oh, that. I think it's an argument they've been having since they were twelve." Mala started. "When they were twelve, Josh started his military career by entering Starfleet academy. But it turns out his brother didn't want to go. Which upset their parents. It seems all Kirks go to the Academy. All. And now, it looks like he still doesn't want to go. And I guess Joshua thinks that his brother should be allowed to do what he wants."
"I have the exact opposite problem." Nani told Mala. "I want to train as a Jedi, but my mother says no."
"I want you to have a normal life." Ateia said with a sigh.
"Mother. To me, this is a normal life. It's all I've ever known."
